A new battery regeneration center in AVIGNON
25 May 2020The carbon footprint of battery regeneration finally measured!
18 September 2020The Carrefour group has been using battery regeneration for years with several processes through service providers.
Several of our centers are also regenerating Carrefour batteries everywhere, especially in the Middle East in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
The LOGIDIS logistics base in Salon de Provence is a class A base of 100,000m² in negative dry and cold storage.
Carrefour Supply Chain owns and operates more than 500 forklifts on 2 workstations.
With the double game day and night, this represents a fleet of more than 800 batteries to be managed in 2 charging rooms distributed on the site.
The management of this fleet of batteries and charger is a major issue to allow the smooth running of operations as well as the satisfaction of forklift operators to finish their workstation on a single battery.
Thus the regeneration of the batteries makes sense for:
• Maintain the maximum capacity of the fleet
• Reduce the electro-mechanical breakdowns of carriers by maintaining high voltages in favor of low currents in components and motors
• Reduce the cost of buying and renewing new batteries
• Reduce industrial waste produced
• Reduce the consumption of chargers by reducing the internal resistance of the batteries and the losses due to the associated Joules effect
• Allow the implementation of a preventive maintenance program
The battery capital in place on the site greatly exceeds one million euros.
Carrefour Supply Chain has chosen to invest in a first Battery Plus regenerator - BRT Maxi Gold model - with its associated automatic discharge bench.
The curative and preventive regeneration program will significantly reduce OPEX, while reducing the carbon footprint.
